SCCA President Jim Julow Announces New and Improved SCCA.com The SCCA.com site was completely rebuilt based on feedback from the membership, staff and fans of SCCA. It’s not just new bodywork on an old chassis. We’ve built this new model from the ground up with new chassis, drivetrain, driver and navigator equipment and body. First and foremost, we’ve added speed, something that was missing before. You’ll notice the new site is on par with the best sites you visit every day on the Internet. The Navigation will be changed a bit as well. It will take far less clicks to get to the things you pull up the most. Looking for Fastrack? There will always be a big button in the lower right hand corner of the home page, as well as a link from each of the Competition Department home pages. When our Championship events are running, you can click to the event information—including results, schedules, entry lists—right from the front page of the Web site. We’ve not changed everything on the site though. If you’re familiar with how you get to something, chances are you’ll still find it. However, if you can’t locate something, type in what you’re looking for in the “Search” bar and you should get to what you’re after. If you’re still stumped with where something is, or you’ve actually discovered that something is missing, send a quick message to webmaster@scca.com and we’ll get that question answered as quickly as possible. And remember, like any new racecar, sometimes new things can be finicky at first. However, after extensive testing and learning from the launch of the last Web site, we’re confident that your first test drive of the new site will go smoothly. Enjoy your new Web site and we’ll see you at an event soon! Sincerely, Jim Julow SCCA Joins Forces with Tire Rack Street Survival to Save Young Lives
TOPEKA, Kan. (July 26, 2007) - Along with the freedom and excitement of receiving a driver’s license, comes the serious responsibility of being a safe and educated driver. The sobering statistics on the number of teen drivers involved in traffic incidents has prompted the Sports Car Club of America to become a partner with The Tire RackŪ Street Survival program, giving young drivers, and their parents, access to the wealth of expertise SCCA members have to offer. Developed by the BMW Car Club of America and the BMW CCA Foundation in 2002, The Tire RackŪ Street Survival teen driving schools are expanding across the country and have enlisted the support of the Sports Car Club of America for its growing network of classes. On August 11 at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., the first SCCA-operated Tire Rack Street Survival teen drivers’ school will be conducted by a group of highly skilled volunteer instructors from the SCCA’s Continental Divide Region. The registration fee of $60.00 provides students with experienced instructors who safely guide them through a day of behind-the-wheel instruction and short classroom sessions. Driving skill courses are specifically designed to mimic everyday driving hazards, obstacles and challenges. Students will use the vehicles they are most familiar with, which is usually their family or personal car, truck or SUV. Parents are urged to talk to their teen drivers about the advantages of attending this one day program. Eligible students are 16 to 21 years old and hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s license or a valid permit. Students should have some driving experience and parents should make plans to attend the programs along with their teens. Parents can find the nearest school and register their teen drivers on-line at www.streetsurvival.org. For more information on the Colorado Springs class, contact Arnie Coleman at (710) 310-8281 or arniecoleman@comcast.net. Further information about this and other Street Survival schools in areas across the country can be obtained by contacting Mike Dickerson at the Sports Car Club of America (800) 770-2055 or mdickerson@scca.com.
